Healthcare represents a significant opportunity for our venture capital team. We partner with entrepreneurs with the ambition to establish leadership in their own markets. We have been building an unparalleled network in the healthcare industry including Ron Dollens, formerly CEO of cardiovascular device manufacturer Guidant; Barry Clare, former CEO of Boots Healthcare International; and we have been joined most recently by Peter Chambré, former CEO of Cambridge Antibody Technologies, as industrialist in residence.



We feel that the fundamentals of the industry continue to be strong. Our main focus is on identifying exciting opportunities to invest in commercially driven businesses that are launching products or expanding through acquisition and internationalisation. Our recent investment in specialty pharmaceuticals company EUSA is a great example. We also continue to back exceptional technology-focused businesses developing disruptive technologies, and were delighted by the exit of one such company, Domantis, to GSK for an unprecedented sum earlier this year.
