3i Nordic was established in 2001 when 3i bought operating management teams in Sweden and Finland and opened an office in Denmark as a green field operation. 3i entered Sweden through the acquisition of the quoted company Atle AB and Finland through the acquisition of SFK Finance Oy.

The Nordic private equity market is one of Europe’s five biggest markets with 30-50 buyout deals per year and over 50 growth capital deals.

3i invests more than €1.6 bn each year and since 2001, 15% of these investments have been made in the Nordic region. Total capital invested in the region is €800 m.

Drawing on highly specialised 3i Group resources, our local teams can provide financial experience, sector knowledge and company management practice, together with a unique network of international contacts.

3i Nordic has offices in Stockholm, Helsinki and Copenhagen working closely with the wider 3i Nordic and international team in growth capital and buyouts. After several successful years Nordic portfolio includes 60 companies. Examples of Finnish portfolio companies are Mehiläinen, Sulake Corporation, Kemfine, Halti and RedLynx. DNA, Eltel Networks, Inspecta, Mehiläinen, Sulake Corporation, Kemfine and Halti.

We have a Nordic investment team of 27 professionals operating from our offices in Stockholm, Helsinki and Copenhagen. Eight of them are located in Helsinki.
